THE PULPIT'S OPPORTUNITY.
• -The modern nulpit is not ritrul and dogmatic. but adaptable. and full ot a kindlier liuman understanding. Ihero is more charity than creed. Ter haps there is too little creed, for preaching can only justify itself in the last resort bv a truth to be given, lucre is no doubt that the modern pulpit lum developed in its power to interest. The demands upon the preacher grow apace, and the realism ot the age vull not listen to sermonie fancy work, but the man who has something to say and cm sav it is as certain of ms congregation to-day as in any past age.
The pity of its is that the churches do not possess more preachers who can pass that simpe test.’—"‘Optimum. ' in the ‘•Westminister Gazette.”
