GOLFING.

WEST COAST GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP & HANDICAP TOURNAMENT. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 20th. AFTERNOON PLAY. The tournament was continued in the afternoon under very pleasant conditions. The whole course was in good order, while the greens were fast. The whole day proved enjoyable from every point of view. The following are the balance of the results for the day. The following have qualified for the ladies' championship: Miss Moore 9;>, Mrs Sod don 95, Mi.ss Conway 100, Aliss Aleldruni 100, Airs Fair 100, Airs Cunningham 103, Afrs Slee 104, Airs Thompson 105. The second medal handicap, played with the recent round of the men’s championship was won by Park (Westport) 82 (7) 75. The ladies’ bogie handicap was won bv Afiss Aitken (Nelson) two down.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 27th. The West Coast Golf tournament continued to-day in beautiful weathei and the different competitions were carried out without a hitch. The play commenced with the ladies’ and men’s championship first round, when some very good play was witnessed. Ladies Championship, first round:— Aliss Aroore beat Airs Thompson 4 and 3. Aliss Conway beat Airs Cunningham 4 and 3. Afrs Fair heat Afiss Aleldruni 2 up. AHs Slee bent Airs Seddon 2 and 1. Aten’s Championship, first round:— •Sime beat Wallis, 3 and 2. Cbesney bent Aleldruni, 3 and 2. McCarthy beat Lovell, 2 up. Park beat Wild, 4 and 3. .Men’s Bogey Handicap, 18 boles;— F. J. Perluun (9) 2 down, Shallerass (6) 2 down, tied.
