ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. BEEF AND MUTTON DECLINE. EAT AND STORE I’IGS ADVANCE. (By Telegraph.—Special tn uuardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This day. Messrs IT. Matson and Co., report as follows regaiding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday: Store Sheep—The yarding was considerably smaller than last week and comprised practically breeding ewes and hoggets, very few wethers being yarded. Owing to the very adverse weather conditions the entry suflcred considerably in appearance. The attendmice ol buyers was small and prices all round were somewhat easier. The yarding was mostly made up of tail ends and the quality generally speaking was very mediocre. Four, six and seven tooth 5 bred ewes made 33s to 40s (id, a good conditioned, a few, crossbred ewes 27s to 31s, crossbred ewe hoggets 27s fld to 32s Id. Ai.S. hoggets 2Gs Gd to 31s, best fonvar wethers 30s to 38s 2d, others 32s to 34s (id. two tooth bred wethers 32s to 35s 3d. Store. Cattle:—A comparatively small entry and as usual mostly odd lots and nondescript sorts, which sold at about recent ruling rates. Beef:—A fairly heavy yarding, though hardly as large as last week. The quality all round was generally good and included about 100 head from the North Island as well as several local station consignments. The market opened tip easier that Inst week, and we would say the decline was about 20s to 30s per head on an average and continued so throughout the sale, old cows being particularly neglected, Primo steers made £lB to £2l, extra to £27 17s Gd. medium steers £ls to £lB 15s, lighter £l2 to £l4 10s, rough sorts down to £9 os, prime heifers £ll to £l3 10s, medium £8 10s to £lO 15s, others down to £7, prime cows £lO to £l2 10s, extra to £l4 12s Gd. medium £7 1.5 s to £9 10s. others down to £4 10s. Mutton: —The yarding was not. so heavy as last week, but quite sufficient for butchers’ requirements. There was a very small proportion of the . owes and the quality, with the exception of a few extra good lots, was hardly lip to the usual standard. The market opened easier than last week, from Is to 2« Gd, and continued on this basis the greater part of the sale. Towards the finish the sale improved to about last week’s parity, but in the concluding stages was decidedly easier. Prime wethers made 44s to 47s Gd, extra to 52s Id. medium 40s Gd to 43s Gd, others down to 375. prime ewes 36s to 40s, extra to 48s 3d, medium 32s to 35s 9d. others down to 2Gs 10d. Eat Pigs:—A medium entry came forward, "porkers selling well at late rates, liaeoners met with a keen demand and prices improved. Light pokers made £2 12s to £3 os, lieaiy C 3 7s Gd to £3 lSs Gd. average Od to 10d, light baeoners £4 ss, to £5, heavy £5 104 to £6 10s, extra heavy £7 to £7 IS Gd, average 9id to 10d; choppers £3 15s tb £7 15s, according to weight and quality. Store Piges:—A medium entry and not sufficient to meet the demand, mid values increased accordingly. Veaners made 25s to 295, small stores 35s (o 40s, medium 43s to 40s. large to 545, sows in pig £G 15s to £B.
