Colonel .Moiiastorio, the Commander at Alhiiceincs Island has been gravely wounded in a Riff attack on the Island, which was opened last night and was resumed this morning. The Spaniards vigorously replied. It is noteworthy that Alhneeines is the spot whence the coming Spanish offensive, in co-operation with the French, was to be launched. LONDON. August 21. Abdel Ki iin is forestalling the great Fran co-Spanish offensive by making an attack on the island of Alhucemes. This has (routed a surprise in Madrid and in Pans and London. The “ Daily Express’s ” Madrid correspondent says; "The Rifls bombarded the Island for eight hours, with heavy artillery and machine guns. Many people were killed. SP ANISH ATTACK I NO. The French delegates who have been waiting at Tangiers and .Melilla in readiness to ixs reive the envoys whom Abdel Krirn might send to open up pence negotiations have been withdrawn by order of their Governments, the latter having come to the conclusion that Abdel Krim is not ready to negotiate. The authorities are now concent rating all their attention and energies on the military problem, including FrancoSpanish co-operation.
