JACKIE COOGAN. Air Harry AlcLcan will present a magnificent programme this (Friday) evening at the Princess Theatre. The star picture is entitled “Long Live the King” starring the world's greatest juvenile actor, Jackie Coogan. The story in brief is as follows. In the capital of Lavonia, a small kingdom in the Balkans, the old king is dying. In the town revolutnnaries plot for the overthrow of the monarchy, and in the castle itself others plot for the neighbouring Kingdom of Karnin to make themselves masters. Crown _ Prince Otto, grandson of the old king and heir to the throne, is taken to the opera. The frowns and angry murmurs of the people turn to cheers us they see the little Prince. 11l the palace ATottlicli—the Chancellor, persuades the King that Karl of Karnia should be married to the Princess Hedwig to protect Lavonia from a war with Karnia. The King consents. At the opera the piny does not amuse tho little prince. Matching for an opportunity he slips from the royal box and makes his way to the street. He hurries to the park and there meets Bobby, an American hoy. Together they visit the amusement park owned by Bobby’s father, and ride on the scenic railway. The disappearance "1 the prince is noted, and troops scour the city. But all are forced to report failure. Great fears are entertained fur his safety, hut late that evening a little dirty hoy, whom the guards have difficulty in recognising as the little prince, approaches ihe gate. For his disobedience his grandfather refuses to sees him for some days. In the meantime Ihe intrigue of the palace goes on. The Princess Hedwig is informed of the coming marriage of state with Prince Carl of Karnia. The Countess Olga in love with Karl is angered at the turn of events. Her secret love is known to the conspirators, who, making use of the betrayal of Lavoniau affairs through her letters to Karl, forces Olga to join them. She consents to find a way for the conspirators to kidnap the little Prince, knowing that when the old king dies and the prince does not appear before the people, according to custom, they will he able to sway the people. But to tell any more of this drama would spoil the entertainment. A superb supporting programme will also he shown. The prices for this mammoth production are: Adults, dress circle 2s, stalls Is Gel.
