At the Magistrate’s Court. Ktimarn on Wednesday, .1. 1-Vatey was (barged with unlawfully ringing the fi rebel I on August 3rd. Constable Eox said that lie saw the man immediately alter the occurrence, and in reply to a question ho said it was only done for a joke. A conviction was recorded, and a line < 10s with 7s costs was imposed. George Lawrence was charged by the Government Apiary Inspector with keeping hoes in other than regulation hives. The Inspector, in giving evidence, said that defendant had been previously lined for a similar offence, but had taken no notice. Witness had visited Lawrence’s hives on various occasions, and found them scattered about—some being 'secluded in the -bush. Lawrence was a menace to commerce, and a hindrance to auyono in the industry. Defendant was fined £3 with costs, and tin order was made for the destruction of all the box hives in de fen dan t’s possession.
