LATE LOCALS.
A meeting of trustees of the Hokitika Savings Bank is advertised for Monday next a.t 7.80 p.m. Mails which left Wellington on 21st July per R.AI.S. Tahiti, via Sail Francisco arrived at London on 15th, August. The Hospital Ball Committee met hist evening to discuss arrangements in connection with the Mall to be held on Septcnilier 2nd. It was decided to hold separate parades for fancy costumes and for those taking part in the Hat Carnival as separate prizes have been awarded for each event. As it is not possible to secure the Horticultural Hall this year, it was decided to serve the slipper in the- Town Hall ami to distribute supper tickets as lias been the custom in previous years. Ihe ladies’ ami men’s dressing rooms will both lie upstairs this year, and arrangements have been made to hate a temporary alley-way erected between the Town Hall and the Drill Hall. Tt was decided to ask Air A. Lawn to j take charge of the musical arrangements for the hall. This will undoubtedly prove a great attraction both for dancers and non-dancers. For the children’s hall the following night it was decided to present each child with a lucky bag and to hold parades, similar to the adult’s ball. Excellent reports were received from the Committee and judging by these and by the numbers of tickets already disposed of. everything points to the ball this year being as great a success as in the past.
