Alison for a week anil to the Hon. C. 11. I nurd for a fortnight on account of illness. Sir Francis Ik-11 gave notice ol bis intention to introduce the Samoan Shipping Bill and the lion. J. McGiegor also gave notice ol his intention to introduce the .Juries Amendment Bill. A motion by the lion. G. M. 1 bomson, that the Council is of the opinion that, the Dominion Museum should be placed under the control of a board of trustees as the only means of securing that public interest in its extension and success as will lead to the erection of a new, commodious and fireproof structure, was deleated on the \oiics. The Council adjourned at 3.35 until 2.30 to-morrow. THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30. The Prime Minister made a lengthy statement in which he replied to the charges of laxity in administration made by the Auditor-General in bis last report. The Premier moved that his statement be printed and this was / agreed to. He also moved that a special committee be set tip to inquire into and report on the Auditor-General’s charges, and this course was adopted. At evening sitting the House passed | through the"committee stage the Massey Burial Ground Bill, the Rotorua Borough Amendment Bill, the Nurses and Midwives Registration Bill and the National Provident Fund Amendment Bill, which were read a third time and passed. The House rose at 12.50 till 2.30 tomorrow.
