A Communist letter asserts recent events made it clear that military forces supplemented by Faseisti, wilt be kept in readiness Lo shoot down the workers if they offer organised resistance to the capitalist wage reduction ill'ensive. We are not conducting it Communist conspiracy. We are merely a working class political party, which warns labour that, capitalism will not allow workers to rise without a well prepared attempt to crush them by armed force, and win over. Therefore you help the soldiers and sailors and cease attacking. The Communist loltm- will ho considered at next meeting of the respective executives. The " Daily Express ” editorially states the Army and Navy will not l>e used for either side in an industrial dispute, lint only against forces daring to challenge the indomitable will of the entire nation. TO BE BLOWN UP. COPENHAGEN, August 18. The Danish Admiralty has decided to blow up the German submarine U2O, which torpedoed the Lusitania, and was itself wrecked at Jutland in 1916. QUESTION OF PASSPORTS. LONDON, August 17. Regarding a suggestion that Dominion citizens ought to be allowed to enter Britain without passports, the “ Times ” states that as a result of negotiations with the Dominions, tho Home authorities have come to tho conclusion that the advantages of passports. on the whole, counter-balance any advantage to he gained by their abolition. "As long as the general passport system operates, the bona (ides of every person landing must ls> established.” said a Colonial Office official. i’hc* mere statement that a person belonged to any of tho Dominions was not sufficient for the port officials, who must be satisfied regarding tho character of the would-be visitor, and the place whence he came. The possession of a passport ended all difficulty and saved delay.
GERMANS SELL OUT IN MOROCCO BERLIN, August 17.
It is learned that a gigantic financial deal, probably the biggest since the war, is at present being negotiated whereby an Anglo-American syndicate (the names of the members not being disclosed) are purchasing Ihe entire property of sLiunesmann Bros, in the Spanish Zone in Morocco and in the Riff area. The vast property includes harbour works at Tfusemas, and elsewhere, zinc and sulphur and other mines and large tracts of agricultural land. The reason for the sale is reported to be the unsettled state of the country. Mannesinanns seeing no prospect of carrying on without political complications. They intend concentrating on their activities in Lite Balkans. FRENCH POLITICAL- PACT. PARIS. Aug. 18. The Socialist Party Congress has decided not to snpoprt the Painlove Ministry. declaring that the Socialists must work for a Government representing the Left Parties. SOCI VLIST LEADER EXPELLED.
