WORK OF N.Z. ARTISTS. Tho display of pictures to he held in the Sample Rooms of Win. Duncan and Co., Tattered Street- on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, is well worth a visit. There tiro 2GL pictures by New Zealand Artists and the exhibition is under the auspices of The National Art Association of New Zealand. The objects ot tlie Association arc:—Firstly to stimulate a greater interest in the fine arts; secondly, to encourage the frequent exhibitions throughout the Dominion of the work of New Zealaiut artists; thirdly to advocate the erection of a Public Gallery in every town large enough to maintain one. Tin - exhibitions have been held in Severn.' towns in New Zealand and have been veil patrunised. It is largely due to the influence of the Secretary of the Association, Mr MacDonald, that tho people ol Hokitika, have this opportunity of .seeing the work of artists who live in the Dominion. Mr McDonald spent some days in Hokitika at the time of the Jubilee of Westland. The price of admission is one shilling, children sixpence. The proceeds are to he devoted to the purchase of copies of the famous pictures of the world, and these will be hung on the wall of the Public Librarv.

Seeing that the proceeds are to bo devoted to such a worthy object, it is to be Imped that the public "ill take full advantage of this opportunity.

The Mayoress lias kindly consented to open the Exhibition at 3 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
