At Awatmia 1 got a piece of ground ready for a small plot and prepared places for trees and shrubs. along the front hotindary. 1 visited Goldsborough in order to find out the possibilities of beginning a plot there, hut found that the only available section suitable for a.garden had just been sold. When 1 visited liicliboiiuie the Committee had not vet got the piece of ground fenced, but were still going to do il. Possibly it has been done bv now. The Camerons School Committee wishes to plant a hedge ot Knglish Molly along the front houndary, but has inn the necessary funds to buy the plants. 1 find that the Forestry Department cannot supply holly plants. The liarrytown School Commit Ice has carried out my instructions and suggestions tor improvement and beautification in (jiiite a praiseworthy manner. I am supplying trees from the Forestry Department for the houndary fences, and. in a short time this, little school should present a very nice appearance. During the early part of the month Mr Keynard. Manual and Technical Inspector, was visiting the schools here, i took him to Cobdeii. Blackball and Xgahere Schools so that he might got a fair idea of the quality of the* work- done in the primary schools, lie also visited Hokitika District High School and watched my class at the work, and on Saturday morning he inspected the Teachers’ Class at work. I am making out a separate report on result of potato competition for the past season. • POTATO GROW!NO.
