ROSS. August loth .MAGISTRATE’S COURT. SATURDAY, AUGUST 17th. (Before A\’. Meldrum Esq., S.M.) Two local residents unlawfully on licensed pi remises (Clydesdale Hotel) were ordered to pay 7s costs. One (Clydesdale Hotel) same offence was fined £l, 7s cost*. One (Commercial Hotel) was ordered to pay 7s costs and another was lined -As and 7s costs. Margaret Ann Carter (the licensee's wife) being a jxu'sun other than the licensee on a charge of supplying liquor in the Commercial Hotel, after hours to a person not lawfully entitled to bo supplied, pleaded guilty and was convicted and lined £1 and costs 7s. WARDEN’* CO) fST. (Before AA'arden Meldrum.) Stuart and Chapman Ltd. (Mr Murdoch) for Tramway license.—Adjourned to September 12th. Same, a motion to cancel one area and approve another as an area to work Sawmill on. -Granted. Same. 8 renewals reservations. — Granted. Same, protection 12 months, sawmill license 1853.—Adjourned to Sept. 12th. J. M. Allan and others (Mr Murdoch) surrender, for purpose of exchange of tint tier reservation.—Adjourned to Hokitika on August 20th. D. AA’. McXieol. water race license, objected to by AA’. J. Hausbury. AY. J. Hnn.sbury for water race license, objected to by D. AA". MoXicol. Mr Murdoch appeared for MeNieol and an agreement was arrived at bebetween the parties and both granted for 21 years, for 2 heads subject to Sections 117 and 116 of the Mining Act. 1908.
