AMIENS RAILWAY SMASH
[Reuter Telegrams.] AMIENS DEATH ROLL. PARIS, August 15. The death roll at Amiens railway disaster, is now eleven. The condition of Jive of the injured is very serious. The others are considered out of danger. Scenes at the wreck were most distressing. Tho mutilated bodies are at present lying in the hospital mortuary. Gangs of men are busily engaged in clearing the track. It is • Imped that normal traffic will he restored by noon to-day. ■>p. Ravi! (Minister of Public Works) declared it. was impossible at present to make a precise statement regarding the responsibility for the accident. He says he has ordered the release of the engine driver, after an examination liv a doctor, who made a reservation regarding the mental condition of “ the driver. He was a man with a good record, and was found after- the smash wandering along the track in a stupelied condition. Apparently he had lost liis reason.
