Laviiigtnn. was totally destroyed by fire. The owner was filling a lamp which caught fire, and tho house was quickly a lua.-s of llanies. making it impossible to save anything. The contents were insured for £IOO, and the house for £BOO. Mr and .Mrs I.avingtoii are heavy losers, as they possessed valuable curios collected in all parts of the world, and these cannot be replaced. The contents of the house were worth £3OOO. The cause of the accident was evidently the steering rod from the steering column to the cress tie rods coining adrilt at the steering column end.
