AN AUSTRALIAN COAL CRISIS. SYDNEY. August 11. The miners’ delegates hoard is sitting at Newcastle, considering the serious position which has arisen following the refusal of the Relawm-ain miners to work the air turbine machines unless the rates and conditions concerning the working of the machines was first determined by the Coal Tribunal. Later the Tribunal refused to hear the claims unless the machines "ere worked and the men in refusing this i ignored the advice of the leaders of the Miners’ Federation.
If the delegate Board fails to arrive at a solution and the men persist in their attitude, it is considered a general mining upheaval may result. Feeling in the district is very stmand many miners lodges arc urging calling aggregate meetings to determine what action should he taken. SYDNEY. August 11.
The Miners’ Delegates Board at Newcastle decided that the President of the Northern Miners branch of the Miners Federation and the delegate from the Pelawmnin branch meet the Central Council of the Coal Miners Federation in Sydney on Wednesday, to formulate a policy for submission to members for ratification. The President of the Northern Branch, addressing the Delegate Board said that, if a light was to take place the miners’ forces must be solidified.
