One exhibit is a bobbed-hair fish. Another is a lisli illuminated by five hundred phosphorescent bulbs. A third is ns feathery as a chicken. William Beebe, the commander, attributes much of their success to four young women, accompanying the expedition, who dived into shark-in-fested deep waters like men to secure specimens. A trawling machine gathered the rest of the fish at a depth of more than fire miles. Beebe was unable to locate the elusive Sargasso Sea, which was sought, or the Humboldt Current in the Pacific.
