WELLINGTON. July 30 THE COUNCIL.
The Legislative Council met at 2.30. The Roman Catholic- Bishop of Auckland Empowering Bill, which amends in minor respects the Act of 1014 and ]f)2t, was read a second time and referred to a committee of selection. Captive Birds Shooting Prohibition Bill. Iron and Steel Industries Amendment Bill, and Cook Islands Amendment Bill were put through tho final stages and passed. The Council adjourned at 3.29 p.m. until 2.30 next day. THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. In the House, the debate on the Budget was continued by Messrs Rolle.stmi (Timaru). Sullivaln. Masters, bangstone. Forbes, Armstrong, and Horn. The adjournment of the debate was moved by Mr Ilawkon, and the House rose ;tt 11.30 p.m.
