Show ground to-day against Waikato representatives. The Ranfurly Shield was not involved. The game was played in the presence ot about 301)0 .spectators, under ideal conditions a dry ground and palm, clear day. The .Ilawkes Bay champions dominated the play throughout, the visitors only occasionally being in the picture. Thu Shield holders were without the .services ol Nepia, who was unable to play owing to tin injury to his knee received in the inter-island mutch. Otherwise, .the ..score would have been even bigger. WAIRARAPA v. BI'SH UNION. AfASTERTOX, July 29. Wairarapa representatives defeated Bush Union here to-day. The visitors fielded a splendid pack, who shared (he honours with the home forwards, hut the Hush hacks were unenterprising. Wairarapa backs throw the ball about merrily, and, had their handling: been executed with any degree of accuracy they must have doubled their total. As it was, time after time, good opportunities were lost through the faulty handling of the ball. Tries for the winners were scored by .Stringfellow (two). J. Donald (two), Parker. Jury. AYyber and Desmond, F. Booth converting six. and Hood kicking a field goal. Tart and 011i ver scored tinconvoided tries tor Hush and 1 . Galvin kicked two penalty goals. The “Evening News” states that Alt Brown, the Australian representative at the Rugby Conference, in commenting on New' Zealand's request to the English Union to press for Dominion representation on the International Hoard, said : “We want uniformity, with International control. The various unions are at present at sixes and sevens. each recognising a different interpretation of the rules, hut the English Union is reluctant to support the Dominion’s representation leanng the control of the game will he taken out of her hands.’’
