Norton just had time to warn Starke not to confess to Allison when Neil arrived and promptly took harsh measures with the crook Starke, in order to make him confess how he laid tricked him. Several days later, "Hopeful” and Neil listed a nearby cabin, inhabited by a prospeetor and his wife. They found the man and woman both dead and a smiling babv. the only Forced to adopt the baby, the two miners cared lor .
