A MEETING PROPOSED. LONDON', July 21. Negotiations relative (to the coal Crisis are now more likely to eventuate as tho result of pressure on the mine owners to withdraw their proposals. The 'owners, after a, meeting of tho Court of Inquiry, sent a letter to Air Cook (Secretary of the Miners' Federation) proposing a meeting for the purpo.sc of exploring the miners' mish' understanding of the owners’ position. The owners state they feel sure that it will show that there is no difference between the parties on this perlimuiary point. The Miners' Executive will eonsitV er the letter to-morrow morning, and; if it considers tho employers’ assurances are satisfactory, a joint meeting will possibly be held in tho afternoon. SUPPORT FOR, MINERS. LONDON, July 21. The conference of Transport Workers at Scarborough has passed a resolution empowering the Federation Executive to co-operate with the Trade Union Congress Council in assisting the miners to resist to the utmost the imposition of the proposed conditions, pud also demanding an unconditional Teopening of the negotiations.
