JONAH AND THE WHALE. (Deceived this day at 8.30 a.in.) NEW YORK, July 21. Warm passages were I sequent between opposing counsel at Scopes trial. .Mr Bryan who entered the witness box, replying to Harrow’s questions whether he believed the whale swallowed Jonah, and whether he believed God made the whale big enough, or Jonah small enough, declared God could make a fish big enough to swallow a man. Tie believed what the Bible said. Due miracle was just as easy to believe as another. Asked if he believed Jonah commanded the sun to stand still. Bryan said be accepted the Bible story absolutely. Asked what would happen if the world stood still, he replied that God would take care of that. He added that he was there to protect revealed religion. SCORES FOUND GUILTY. NEW YORK, July 21. Scopes was found guilty, 'the verdict was returned after eight minutes deliberation. Scopes was fined one hundred dollars. APPEAL TO BE LODGED. NEW YORK, July 21. A message from Dayton states an appeal will lie lodged at the Tennessee Supreme Court on hehalf of Scopes.
