Bell resuming the argument- in the Ilnur milling case, said the scheme could not he held on the ground that il was consonant with the Government policy. The Government might have assented to the agreement and even il it did that could not a licet the question of construction. Mr MacDonald’s view of the Government policy was wrong. Mr Skorrelt for respondents, said that what they relied upon in the Lower Court was that the acts and actions of the Government in regard t - control of wheat supply encouraged and made possible and desirable just such a form of control as Distributors r.td exercised. Mr Bell contended all the Court had to consider was the nature of the monopoly and it- effect upon the public interest. The construction placed l,v Justice Sim mi the. statute was too narrow. It was intended to prohibit all dealings with goods. THE NATIONAL PARTY. AUCKLAND. July 21. The Auckland branch of the LiboralLnhour Federation adopted a resolution to recognise the change of name, which does not imply a change ol principles and having confidence in the Parliamentary executive. They unanimously endorsed their action in changing iiie name and pledge themselves to'support tho National Party and also desire to express lively appreciation ot tue common sense behind the leadei proposal for a National Party.
