TUESDAY—A WEIRD PICTURE. At the Princess Theatre on Tuesday the strangest and weirdest picture store ever conceived by the human brain. “ The Alonkey’s Paw.” will bo screened at -McLean's. In a little country town live Air and .Mrs James White, and their son Herbert"! The only cloud in their sky is the mortgage on their cottage, and now that Herbert has a rise in salary they hope to pay it off soon. Ode evening Ser-geant-Alnjor -Morris, who lias just returned from India has supper with them. The conversation veers to Hindu magic, and he relates the strange tale of the monkey's paw. which grants to its owner flirco wishes, hut liappv is he who is content and asks for nothing, for the desires are granted hv the monkey’s paw in such a terrible way that the recipient would rather he without. . . . Weeks go bv. I lie devoted mother is unreconciled to the death of her son. At last she has an idea; the monkey’s paw killed her darling; the monkey’s paw shall restore him to her. Stic confides in her husband, who is horrified, and tells In-r that poor Herbert’s head had been terribly mutilated. She refuses however, to listen to reason, and forces lhe old man to wish that tlu-ir son was alive again. A wild storm is raging outside. Suddenly the latch io! the cottage door moves up and down, and the thumps from the knocker reverberate through the room. Airs AYliito rushes to draw hack the heavy bars, and admit her dearly loved child. The bars stick, and Air White is too frightened at tlm thought of what may be without to go to her assistance. IL' drops to his knees to pray, and see- the monkey's paw. He grabs it up. and wishes that, his son may remain peacefully dead. The knocking slops. .Miss White flings open the door. The wind howls and the rain hurls itself ai her. Now one is there! A comedy and gazette will eoiiclude this excellent programme.
