THE SECURITY PACT
[Australia & N.Z. Cable Association.] GERMAN 1< HP GY. BERLIN, July 10. The German draft reply to tho French security pact note, has been drawn up by Cabinet. There is strict secrecy regarding it. but the newspapers assort, the reply declares Germany is ready to join tho League of Nations on conditions especially referring to Article sixteen of the 'League of Nations pact, namely, the right to march across Germany on the request of the Council of the League; also the evacuation of the occupied areas as provided in the Versailles Treaty. BERLIN, July 17.
The German reply emphasises that Germany is greatly interested in the acceleration of the settlement of the security question, but says the I'icnch Note iins considerably expanded the basis of the German memorandum of Feb. 9th. introducing various new crucial questions; for example, the sanctions, which require elucidation before a Conference can he held. The reply will be published on July 21st. simultaneously in Pari- and Berlin. I here will be a big debate in the Reichstag on it on the 22nd.
