Il was resolved that the Railways Hoard should he asked to discuss with the conference methods employed by the administrative officers’ round table conference in connection with the yearly stall' review. A long discussion took place in connection with the “appointment "I outsiders to positions which could be ably tilled by New Zealand-trained men." Ii - was decided to take action in regard to certain instances that were mentioned. It was agreed that goods foremen at Christchurch. Dunedin. Invercargill. Auckland. Palmerston North. Greymouth. Wellington, and Fraukton Junction should be granted higher grading. A widows’ pension scheme drafted by the executive committee was adopted by tile conference, and ii was decided to submit the matter to brandies in order to ascertain wbat support 'iidi proposals would receive. Various otber mutters concerning conditions and salaries wore al-o dealt with.
