This factor is allowing the forthcoming Australian refunding issues to be floated in New York. In addition to the refunding of her war debts, Australia is known to be desirous of capital for the extension of her public wonts.

A TRADE AGREEMENT. OTTAWA, July 8. The text, of the trade agreement between the West Indies and Canada shows the former gives Canada a lari!! preference on flour, butter. cheese, lard, eoiidcn-ed milk, meat of ati kinds, li.sli, apples and potatoes. The agreement provides lor two steamship •services, lor passengers, mails, anti freight, fortnightly, from the Canadian ocean ports all the year round, and a second service of smaller vessels from the Canadian river ports in the summer and from the ocean ports in the winter. All the freight rates are subject to control by the Canadian Government. Towards the service, the West .Indies will contribute L'29,()(K) annually, and an additional subsidy for certain calls of steamers. Canada extends a tariff .preference to a large list of tropical products from the West 111( 1 i ps.
