ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. ADVANCES IN ADD DEPARTMENTS. (By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs 11. Matson ami Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday : -- Store Sheep—A small yarding, mostly of hoggets. The sale showed a
sharp rise all round. Praetieally no decent, sorts of ewes were yarded. Three-quarter- l.red and cross-bred v/etlier land's made 25s to 2is, ditto e\Ve lainhs 28s to Als lid. Iwsl forward wethers to 325. late shorn wethers to ‘J7.s lid, aged ewes in land) to 20s Id. Store rattle—A comparatively small yarding ami as usual mostly rows and nondescript lots. I here wore two or three pens of decent steers and these sold well. Two and three-year storm made £ I to Co. -I and .1 year steers £7 (is (id to £8 10s. host rows to £0 10s, others 25s to 555.
Beef—A large yarding comprising .505 head. The bulk of the entry was made ip) of old cows, hut there were several lines of exceptionally good steers which sold well. In fact, the whole market showed a decided improvement and continued so throughout. One consignment of North Island rattle missed the market so probably will come forward next week. Prime steers made £1 10s to £lB 15s. extra to £22 7s Gd, medium £l2 to £ls. lighter and inferior £7 7s Gd to Gil 15s, prime heifers CS 10s to LTD ss. extra to £ls 7s Gd medium £6 10s to £8 ss, others to £5 ss, prime rows £8 15s to £lO 10s extra to Cll 17s Gd, medium £0 5s to £8 10s. others down to C 3 10s.
Fat Pigs—-A large entry of porker pigs, hut a large proportion were unfinished which were difficult to sell. Anv good sorts sold well. I here was a medium entry of hat-oners, all selling well at late rates. Values: light porkers 15s to 50s. heavy 58s to /ss, arerage price Bicl to 9d ; light lutconers £4 to £5 15s. average price 71d to Bid.; choppers £4 to £7 15s. Store Pigs. A good entry. The sale opened at late rates, weauers selling well. Medium ami large stores showing quality sold well but unfinished sorts were hard to quit. Moaners made 15s to 23s Gd. small stores 26s to 30s. medium 33s to 38s. large to 1/s Gd. sows in pig £3 12s Gd to £5. Mutton —A smaller yarding, hut hardly sufficient for butchers requirements. Not nearly so many ewes wore yarded and several exceptionally good lines of wethers were in. Quite a large proportion of entries came from South Canterbury. Apparently there were no West Coast buyers Tint several local country butchers helped to keep the market up. Only one exporter was operating. hut notwithstanding the sale showed an improvement of Is to Is Gd per head and in places decidedly more. Prime wethers made 42s Gd to 4Gs Gd. extra to 52s 3d. medium 38s to 41s. lighter to 33s Gd. prime ewes 36s Gd to 425. extra to 50s Gd. good ewes 32s Gd to 365. medium 29s to 325. others 24s 6d. Practically no lambs were yarded.
