CHRISTCHURCH. July 8. At a conference to-day, attended by eighty delegates from "all parts of the Ellesmere electorate, Air David Jones (Chairman of the Meat Export Control Board, and formerly M.P. for Kainj>oil, was selected as the official Reform candidate for the Ellesmere seat at the general election. KILLED BY TRAIN. INVERCARGILL, July 9. While returning from a champion ploughing match, a tarctor was struck by Lumsdcn train at Wcstplains crossing. Allan Mclntosh the driver had both legs broken and sustained internal injuries from which he (lied in a few hours. His brother who was sitting behind was thrown clear and escaped scathless.
