Lacoste. in an article in the "Evening News" says: “England has lost her tennis supremacy because the young Englishman, while probably the best all round athlete in the world, does not excel in any single sport, owing to his liking to play everything. English sportsmen do all things well, il nothing supremely well. It is a post-war mood."
