Dramatic scenes marked the opening ol the trial of Angerstein. whose arrest was cabled on December 3rd. last, lie is charged with murdering eight persons, bis wife, his mother-in-law. his sister-in-law. a maid servant, two gardeners, and two clerks. Angerstein calmly described how he stubbed some of his victims, and hov lie chased and killed the others with a chopper. He admitted he had lived happily with his ivifw. Counsel read a letter written by the wife before her death, saying: “Mako a grave for tne in some quiet spot, with a place for you beside me. and when I am gone, love her still, who was true to you till death." Asked whether his wife said anything before she died. Angerstein replied: “Not while I was stabbing her but previously when 1 approached her bed with a revolver, she exclaimed : ‘Father forgive him 1' Then she fell back fainting." The hearing was adjourned.
