UNITED (IT) v. KIWIS (9). Contrary to expectations. this match Limit'd out a runaway victory for the homo team at Victoria Bark, Circymuitlh. where there was a good attendance of spectators. The first half was not nearly so uneven as the second, and just alter changing over, the Kiwis cot a couple of tries in quick order, hut after that the l.”oiled hacks romped over them taking the score from Di to Id by a succession of tries. No fewer llian live tries were obtained hy If. Jamieson who gave his host exhibition this season, lie was helped hy Howard, the United centre, who is a big acquisition to his team, as he is a player of sound judgment, capable of making good openings for his outside men. Wurnos also took a leading part in the United attack, while the other backs combined nicely. At the same time, it must be said that the Kiwi backs gave a wretched defensive display. their ta< kling being woefully weak, and quite below their usual standard. Their only hack to show up at all was AleCleaiy, but lie doubtless felt obliged to rely on his forwards, among whom Devaney, I’erham and Carter played hard games against heavy odds. The game needs little description,■ beyond saying that it was largely a succession of United passing movements. The other try scorers were M. Jamieson. I*. Jamieson, and Ulmrteris. while Waltnn converted over half a dozen tries, and Warne.s added the rest of the points. AfcCleary scored a couple of tries for the losers and J Walker one. Burley, Af. Jamieson, and Charteris were about the best United forwards while the backs all were seen to advantage. Devaney. Botham, Walker, and Carter were the best of the Kiwi pack. WEST COAST If DP. TEAAf.
