SHIPPING TROUBLES.
AN UNAUTHORISED MEETING
[Australia A- N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received this day at S a.in.) SYDNEY. July 4. It is gathered that the meeting at Murts Dock had no vital itottring upon the main issue in the shipping dispute and that the meeting was attended by a number of men not employed at the dock. It was also gathered that the Marine Transport Group, which called the meeting, had no authority to call the men off the job. No officials front the Union concerned addressed the meeting which did not represent Molts Dock employees. A\ hen the hell rang for the resumption of work most of the employees resumed. With .reference to the steps Mr Lang (Labour Premier) might take to settle the whole shipping trouble it is generally agreed in union circles that no single State Premier can do anything because the deadlock has already touched three States and the remaining three must become embroiled at an early date. It is stated the shipowners intend to discard the defunct award immediately, not awaiting the expiration of the articles.
