[BY TELEGRAPH—PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] FARM HANDS’ AWARD. DUNoDIN, July 2. AYlten the farm assistants’ dispute came before the Conciliation Council last week, tho employers’ assessors were absent, and the Commissioner appointed three assessors. No furthei progress was made this morning. The employers’ agent said the opinion was held that no award could be made. The Commissioner said that at Christchurch some years ago the Court declined to make an award. The Council referred the matter to the Court without any recommendation.

Kapttaroa later was found dead underneath the tree. A FARMER'S SUICIDE. NELSON, July 2. A settler of Supplejack Valley, Upper Alnutere. Joachim Hands Heinreich Eggers, aged 63 years, committed suicide by hanging while suffering from temporary insanity brought on by heart disease. WELLINGTON EAST SEAT. WELLINGTON, July 3. .\t a meeting of delegates of the AVelhiiglon East Reform League Air T. Forsyth was chosen candidate for the seat at the next election. At tho 1922 election he was defeated by the Labourite by about- four hundred votes. On that occasion another Reform candidate and an Independent Liberal also stood. RAGING CLUB SECRETARY DEAD. WELLINGTON, July 3. Obituary -A. E. AA’hito, Secretary of the Racing Club, aged 54. He underwent an operation for appendicitis a fortnight ago, but collapsed suddenly ami died in ten minutes. He was originally a hank clerk and became Secretary of the Racing Club 23 years ago and was largely responsible for the construction of the present course at Trenthain.
