A message from Los Angeles states that sixty-live are known to have been killed in the South Californian earthquake, centring at Santa Barham, ft is believed that at least one hundred perished and several hundreds were injured. Some of the finest buildings were demolished, railway lines weie disrupted and communications cut off. A fire has broken out and the dam burst, torrents of water Hooding the city. The inhabitants are panic stricken. Aeroplanes from San Francisco and elsewhere and Red Cross trains are rushing to the relief of the inhabitants. CORR ECTED FIG OKI'S. SAN FRANCISCO, June 29. The correct earthquake figures are eight dead and three hundred injured. According to a report from Santa Barbara when telephone communication was re-established the earlier levports indicating great loss of life "cie due to the fact that over one hundred were missing or unaccounted for during the morning when the confusion was very great, making it practically impossible to check the dead and injured.
