SPECTACULAR EFFECT MARRED. BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSN., COPVRIOHT. WELLINGTON, Juno 25. Tho fourth session of the twemyfirst Parliament was opened at 2.30 this afternoon by His Excellency, the Governor-General with the ceremony usual to such occasions, the spectacular effect of which was, however, somewhat marred by the wet foggy weather.

The Speech from tho Throne ivie read by His Excellency in the Legislative Council to members of both Houses, alter which both Chambers proceeded with formal business. THE COUNCIL. In the Council the reappointed members, with tho exception of lions Cow and Geddis who were absent. were sworn in. The Hon G. M. Thomson gave notice of his intention to move the Address-in-Reply to the Governor’s speech. The (Council then adjourned till Tuesday at 11 n.m. when it will deal with Ihe Imprest Supply Bill. THE HOUSE. In the House the new member for E rank I in. Mr E. L. McLennan, was sworn in. The Expiry haws Continuance Bill was. on the motion oi the Prime Minister. read a first time, pro forma. Mr McLennan gave notice of his intention to move that a respectful address be presented to I Lis Excellency the Governor-General, in reply to His Excellency’s speech. Mr It. R. Hudson will second the motion. Mr 11. Holland gave noticoi that he would move an amendment to the Ad-dress-iii-Roplv. The Hon Gordon Coates (Premier) intimated he would ask the House to meet on Monday night to pass the Imprest Supply Bill. '1 he Addross-in-Replyl would lie moved and seconded on Tuesday night. Tho IT ouse adjourned at 3.25.
