Increased imports of raisins correspond with t hr* period in which different jiroi inees adopted prohibition, Air Robb. .Minister of Finance, remarked in the House of Commons on litis fact when commenting on figures which he had been asked for in connection with the Canadian-Australian trade pact. He said that in 11)1-1 Canada imported 21 million pounds of raisins. In 11)11) the yearly imports hail jumped to thirty-four million pounds, and in 1!)21 they stood tit t hir-ty-eight million pounds. Air Rohli stated that now the Australian raisins had been made duty tree, the Commonwealth could compete with the world no matter whether there was tin increase in the duty on dried fruits from other countries or not
