The vacancies caused by the members of the crew of the Esperancc Bay handing in their notices have been filled without- trouble as the arl ides do not expire until the vessel returns from Brisbane early in July. It is thought that a. deadlock will lliiui occur.
The attitude the Commonwealth Lino inellds to adopt will be made dear this week, when a new will be called for to man flic Fordsdale. which is due to sail for Britain on Saturday.
An unexpected development occurred concerning the bolding up of the steamer Hunter at Mori’s Dock, when the Bilious concerned received summonses calling on them to show cause whv tliev should not be ordered to pay the penalty of tot 10 for aiding and abetting and illegal strike.

Further trouble occurred on the waterfront owing to the decision of wateridors that their mom’.a: - -, roil'd not l.aul timber direct from vessels to wagons, maimaining that their duties implied onlv that they should stack it mi the wharf. One of the vessels affected is tlie Kaitangata which reecntlv arrived from New Zealand.
