SHIPPING TROUBLES.
CRISIS END OF JULY. [Australia A- X.Z. 'Cable Association.] SYDNEY, June 20. A crisis in the shipping trouble is expected towards tlm end of July, or early in August, when file articles of practically all vessels plying between Australian ports will have expired. The crews of over sixty per cent, of the steamers sign on and oil' at Sydney, which is expected to he the storm centre. It is expected the Commonwealth Lino will he drawn into the dispute oil Alonday when the Esperanto Bay arrives. Her articles expire oil Tuesday. and it appears certain the crew will demand the insertion in the conditions of the danse in the new agreement. The seamen have offered to modify the original clause whereto objection was taken hy the owners, who, however .definitely refused to agree to the new proposal. The new clause asked that wages, and the general working conditions which were in operation on the Ith. of June, 1925. he applicable to all members of the Union employed on vessels. SOLUTION UNLIKELY. SYDNEY, .1 mio 21. There is little likelihood of the solution of the shipping dispute. “ The owners state they are firm in their decision not to continue any form of job control methods. A special meeting of the Marine Transport Group is being held on Monday, when alt the Unions interested in the expected upheaval will he asked to define their attitude. If n strike eventuates, it will extend throiigout the Commonwealth.
