Amongst those ballot papers the names of tWilliunt Ferguson .Massey and William Herbert Ilerries appeared for the last time. Other names of well-knowat members of the House of Repre 4 rntal ives who were defeated at the last General Election were those of (sir Joseph Ward, who was again defeated at tie. Tatirjinga by-election, the lion. K. I’. I.oe. Sir Frederick Rang, and Mr A. S. .Malcolm. None of those names, except that of Sir Joseph Ward, is likely to appear on the ballot papers of the next General Election. A largo number are. missing, but we have heen unable to trace them. They are all of a most important nature. Some are mortgages, discharges of mortgages, and extensions. ’When interviewed liy Detective Nutfall. accused admitted that he removed genuine uneamelled stamps and replaced them liy cancelled stamps from other documents. He said that he destroyed the whole of the other documents. Some he burned, and some ho tore up and threw away.
