The incident, at a meeting, ol Afisses Boyd and Akliurst tossing the coin greatly amused the Australians in London, because, of its typical Australian .sporting spirit. Aliss Akliurst said it was silly to thin!: we came all the way from Australia to play each other. AVo are such good friends that I don’t like the idea of one putting the other out, so they tossed; tnen the loser announced a walk over. Miss Akliurst was disappointed at not. meeting Airs l.ycett, who withdrew. hut she had n doughty opponent in Alts Gough, who was a player oi note in India. LONDON. June 17. Mrs l.ycett beat Alias Akliurst- 7-5. 1-0. G-l. Harper beat Fry 0-3. 6-2.
