Time was one notification of a case of infantile paralysis in the Canterhurv Health District last week, the patient being a g'irl, aged 141. at Timaru. The number of infantile paralysis cases at the Christchurch Hospital is diminishing. only about 80
eases being treateil. The proportion of eases of serious after-effects among the patients who have been discharged from the hospital is remarkably small.

The death took place at Auckland Hospital on .Monday of Mr William C. Kdwards, following two serious operations. complications supervening. He was a brother of the late Mr F. J. Edwards, chief clerk at the State Collieries. Dunollie, was married, and was one time, at Ivotuku, and Kanicri. He was timekeeper for McU*an Bros., Ltd. at the Otira 'funnel, and was also associated with them in many contracts throughout the Dominion. He also kept a boarding-house at Otira- for the company’s officials. On Messrs McLean being relieved ot their contract at Otira. Mr Edwards ,-etlled in Auckland, where he purchased a business at Mount Albert. Ho was about GO years of age and had no family. .Mrs Edwards was a member of the well-known Hearn familv of Arthurstown.
