HALIFAX (Nova Scotia) June 12. 1 A troop train from Halifax was pelted with rocks by youthful strike sympathisers on route to the outskirts of Sydney, whence they will proceed to New Waterford. Troops, consisting of infantry and artillery were armed with all equipment for active service. Royal Canadian regiments at Toronto and London (Ontario) are awaiting word from Ottawa entrain for Cape Hretton. Rlf PORT ON SHIPPING SUBSIDY. OTTAWA. June 12. Ihe probability is that the bill granting 'the subsidy will either ha dropped or be allowed to remain on tlio order paper until passed. When the bill was before the House. Mr King emphasised that the putting into effect of the contract was dependent on Parliament’s approval. SUDDEN DEATH. OTTAWA. June 12. The death of Sir William Peterson was announced in the Commons this afternoon. Peterson was in Ottawa for the special committee hearing. He was ill only a few minutes. Death was due to heart attack.
