SENIORS. Excelsiors 15, Kiwis 0. CniU.'d !-, Stars 11. JCXIORS. I iitt ihari 2d, Excelsiors j. Kiwis 11, Kokutuhi 11. Arahura v. Kanieri postponed. THIRD GRADE. School 10, Kiwis 4. KIWIS V. EXCELSIORS. The Kiwi-Excelsior game was played on An 1 playing field on Cass Square at :i o’clock, the day being ideal for loothall. while the attendance of the public was fair. The game was a forward scramble throughout and was not very interesting from a spectators point of view. Wright missed tin easy penalty earlv. The forwards of both sitlos kept hammering away and while one side had an advantage one moment the other had it the next, and Ike game thus went on, until just a lew minutes before half-time from a serum near the corner. Gibbons let out to Henderson, who transferred to Wogan, the latter erssing. Bannister's kick missed. Excelsiors A, Kiwis 0. The second spell was another struggle between the forwards, both sides being willing. Rum-raft got in some good individual eliotts. McCloary secured passed to (Iriflin who transferred to, Shaw the latter knocking on. spoiling a gned i bailee, 'll;ce red and blacks carried play up the held when a good mark hv (! rihiiii relieved. Rerham broke thiovgh and secured, passed to Mel.eary to Olliver. who ini-wed. Henderson. who was playing a splendid game, both in attack and defence smashed the Kiwi attacks time and again, whilst (tihhoir. and Wogan also brought oil' sou'" nice saves. White missed a penalty for Kiwis. Gibbons relieved hv a go. d mark. About ten minutes before time the Kiwi hacks tried to open up the game and one limit of paving in which the hall was thrown across, through the reverse and hack. Inst a good deal of ground for Kiwis, the red and black forwards being too sudden lor them. Right on time Ihe Excelsiors carried play up the- field ami looked like scoring, hut instead oi kicking the ball utit. it was kept in play, anil the Kiwis rushed play down within the red and blacks 2d, (Millions kic king out. hy a speculator, the luck not. being

with the Kiwis evidently. Henderson gave the host display. Ins attacking and delensive powers being good to watch, and on many occasions he saved his side, whilst numerous times he opened up the game, hut the Kiwis defence was 100 solid. Wogan and (lihhoti-. also got in some good defensive work. Gibbons taking the hall very well. Duneralt and M. Leary were the best of the Kiw i hacks. Wright, the Excelsior full hack, had plenty to do, hut he did it cleanly and with his usual eunfideneq, not making any serious blunders, whilst on several evasions he turned defence into attack. Walk-f, the Kiwi full hack, gave one nf his worst displays that probably lias I eeu witnessed and was just as bad as bis display la.-t Saturday was goad. He fumbled badly, kicked badly and was caught on several oceasbuis. while another very bad fault was bis trying to play , the whole Excelsior team. The wings of both sides did not get a great deal to do. The forwards of both sicl -s worked hard, although the red ami blacks were the better under tlie leadership of Bannister, who also did some good line kicking. Thompson and I’re.ston played wing tltrec-quarters for the Exi elsiors, but did not get a great deal to do. Mr R. Dowell had cmilr.il of tin game. Below are append’d a few "Rou'ts” lor players, as apparently son-.e ot the latrt i: i ants in the senior game 'on •Saturday have never learned them: Don’t imagine that you can play the whole of the opposition; unless you are a superman, but even they sometimes come a thud. Don't assume out know all the roles: eel a ,-op\ ot I h*' .innn.il .ind .u.it them up. Don't dispute t Ilf* referees decision, lie probably observes more than you, but sometimes he is prevented from doing so. Don't in!!., as von a're wasting good breath which would he lr-ller utilised

in following up the hall, and doing wiur bit : iwarJs a win for \<iur side. Don't think the referee is biassed : he might make a mistake. but very often ii is a honest one. Don't think that a game • it Saturday is all that is required; sonic good prae-

tiee and not all solid training is necessary and essential. Don't wait til! three o’clock to proceed to the field of battle,- that is the time the game should commence. Don’t hang on to the ball too long when you are tackled; it may cost your side the game. Don’t wait with your pass till tigother man is in a worse jtosition than yourself. Don’t argue about decisions, because the other follow nitty score while you are holding forth about your rights and the referee's wrongs. ARAM ERA V. KAXIERI. The Arahura-Kanieri match which was in have been played cut Cass Square at I.JO did not take place, owing to ti number of the Kanieri players not being able to take part through injuries and sickness. 'lbis is the third Saturday running now that Arahura lias not received a game. Knkatahi and Excelsiors forfeiting the previous Saturdays. s: iiooi. v. kiwis. The School v. Kiwi game was played on Cass Square at I .JO o’clock on Saturday afternoon and it was a splendid exposition of .football on the part of the School, which showed that the hoys are higher up in the game than they wen 1 last season for which great credit js due to those responsible for the coaching of the hoys. If the "Whiles” keep on improving some thrilling displays by them may be looked for before the end of the present season, while on Saturday week the Excelsior-School .game should prove a good attraction for till lovers of good and clean football. Ihe Kiwi hoys worked hard enough, hut their play on Saturday gave one the impression that they are sadly in need of a coach to knock them into shape. Enr a while' after the' start the game was fairly even, when the Dines carried play down the (ield and Keller had a successful poi at goal, whieli seemed to augur well for them, hut this only acted as a spur for the School who commenced to gain the ascendancy, which they kept to the end of the game, piling up IP points, all being scoured by line efforts. The school hoys’ place kicking was a feature. some very line kicks being made indeed, putting into the shade the dismal attempts of the seniors the sain: l

afternoon. Clue of the whiles converted a penalty from somewhere about six yards inside the half-way mark it was a splendid kick and it’s a pity Rial there were not more present to witness it. All the other shots at goal were also frond, although some of them failed. The game was very clean

throughout, there being not one untoward incident, playing the man never entering the boys’ heads, while the* pace throughout was fast. The tackling ami collaring ot the school Mere also a treat to watch. Some e.f the Kiwis tackled well, while others

were not so good, hut probably could improve if they tried. The* Whites were- not selfish with the hall, hut tin' same could not he said ol the Blues, while some of them had a bud habit ol'«jawiug at their next-door neighbour. Air (tailor manipulated the whistle.
