Before Air E. C. Dewey K.M.. at the .\iaei.-,tr:ite's Court fip-day a sheepfarmer front the Hangarou district named Alfred James .McGregor, was charged with stealing on .May 12th.. 15 sheep valued at £ls. the property of J. !’,. Murphy and on February 15th. stealing 12 sheep, valued at £l2. tho property of A. J. Jackman. Murphy and the accused are neighbours. 1 1 was stated in evidence that at a muster at aieiised’s place, 21] withers wit.' found, which were the property of Murphy, and bore his mark, and also aicuscd’s mark. In regard to Jackman's cheep accused said that when he was at .McLaurin's place looking for stragglers, there were fourteen of Jackman's .shoe]) there. MeLaurin said Jackman's sheep were a nuisance, so aceused took them, and after a week or two, put his earmark on the sheep, and made a note in his diary, intending to inform Jack-man when they met.
