RETURNED SOLDIERS’ ASSOCIATION.
COAI.MHTEE AIEETIXGS. The Committee met at the Club rooms. Soldiers’ Hall, at "..'JO o’clock last evening.—Present:—.Messrs Evans t'rcsidenti, .Moore, Paterson, Cutbush Stuart.
The Secretary reported he had referred a pension claim, to the District ( onfeteiice at Christchurch at which the branch was represented, and the matter was being represented to the Department. —Approved. It tva ■ reported all capitation dues to the Association had been paid. The Secretary reported a second payment on the building account would by paid the following day. With. payments made previously this left a small balance which it was hoped to clear oil by next mouth. In connection with the finance campaign gratification was expressed al the public support and the sustained help of the ladies’ committee in assisting with various luurtions. It was resolved to acknowledge the assistance rendered with an expression ol public thanks, and also to thank Mr S. .1. Preston for use of depot. It was dei ided to write the Prime .Minister. .Major Coates, congratulating the soldi.f on his new appointment au'd wishing him every success in his responsible office. \pplicat ions for the Soldiers’ Hall for socials were approved. It was resolved to keep ti record ol till advance hookings at the County Office lor general information.
Il was resolved' to invite a card team from the h'ire Brigade for a friendly game on some evening found to he convenient. Arrangements were l“lt in the hands of .Mr Paterson. It was also agreed to hold a reunion of returned men, their wives and lady friends, on 12th June, at the Soldiers' Hall, anti invite the ladies’ committee to attend. A social gathering will he held.
