THE GREEN GODDESS.”
The story of “The Green Goddess,” to he screened on Tuesday by McLean's Pictures continues: —
The natives gather around Airs Cresin, the Major and Dr i raherne menacing their lives, but they are saved by the intervention of the Rajah who courteously invites them to his luxurious palace, but retains them as prisoners. Escape is impossible as even if they got away from the Palace they would he unable to find their way through the mountain wilderness without native guides. Airs CTespin pleads that she he allowed to go to her children. The Rajah politely refuses. hut he offers to spare her life and bring her children to her in the Palace if she will hub consent to he his wife. Sho scorns this offer. The Rajah then prepares leisurely to put Airs Crcspin and Dr Traherne to death. He dresses himself in the robes of the Chief Priest, of the Green Goddess. The fires of Clio sacrificial altar are set to burning. The two victims are led on to the scene, surrounded on nil sides by fanatical attendants who stand ready to execute the. death penalty at a wave of the Rajah s hand. Once more the Rajah offers Mrs Crcspin through marriage. The tension has reached the breaking point—the woman’s hysterical pleading is drowned by ihe mad cries of the frenzied populace outside the gates, when suddenly in the distance can he heard a noise which horrifies the natives. Another of the strange flying engines of the British! Ibis olio drops halls of fire ! Is it one or a, fleet, of English bombing planes. The Rajah threatened by tlm complete annihilation 'of his kingdom, surrenders the prisoners.
MASTER PICTURES. “THE TREMBLING HOUR.” Master Pictures present on Tuesday “The Trembling Hour:- A ma'i is murdered. Any one ol several persons might have commit Lei! the crime, including the hero who would have been exonerated because he is sulleiing from shell-shock. \\e ran t tell von more about the plot without spoiling vour enjoyment if you see the picture. Just: take our word for it that it is a worthwhile production. This is an entertaining and absorbing mystery drama, which will please every lover of well-constructed screen stories. A crime is committed. AVho is guilty ? That is the principal theme of this picture. There is romance too. A'ou will like Hus production. The supports include a gazette, travelogue and comedy, with Bonetti’s full orchestra.
