Persons in Now Zealand holding; German paper marks will be interested to learn that they may now lie exchanged at the rate of one reichsmark to a billion paper marks, which will cease to he legal tender after July 5. lilt'd. The following letter has been received by the Prime .Minister from the Coiisul-t ieneral for dormany, at Melbourne: — “T have been advised by my Government that the directors of the Gorman IJeicbsbank. according to section 3 of the Banking Act of August 30, 102-1, have called in all Reiehsbank notes issued prior to October 11, 1021. The notes tln is called in will cease to he legal tender after June 5. 1925. Persons holding such notes, may. however, after this date up to July 5. 1025. exchange them at al branches of the Iteiehsbank at the rate of billion marks to reichsmark (H..M.) fixed hv the tierman Legislature according to the Dawes Plan. “As German paper marks therefore will he valueless alter July 5, 1025. and as there seems a possibility of such paper marks Icing held by New Zealand residents. 1 have the honour to suggest that the above facts be. given due publicity in order that holders of paper marks living ill New Zealand might he enabled to guard their interests."
