At the Magistrate's Court. Kuinara this morning. Mr Meldrum S.M.. convicted Charlotte fjc-wis. license ol Team's Hotel, for refusing accommodation to Llewellyn King, a prohibition lecturer, and lined her 11 ( tno minimum) with costs £lO. At the initial hearing Mr Meldrum dismissed the charge and the police appealed. Justice McGregor held that the Magisterial decision was unjustified and ordered jal decision was unjustified - ami ordered a conviction. William Henry Batson (licensee of the Commercial Hotel I. Kumara. pleaded not guilty to refusing accommod iticn t;: John R. McCnsker. a weekend visitor. Batson was lonvicted and lined £1 and costs 17s Gd. Mr Justice Adams, in the Supreme Court Christchurch on Wednesday, made an order for applications by the Canterbury Law Society to have Lionel Lancelot Hutchings ami Marlin Joseph O’Brien struck off the roll of solicitors to go to the Court ot ApI peal Hutchings had been convicted „f fraudulently failing to pay moneys received l.v him. and O'Brien ol forging yn endorsement on a hill ot ex- . change. Mr Johnston appeared tor the Law Society, and Mr Sargent foi Hutchings. O’Brien was not represented.
