Tire police charged a number of persons with being on licensed premises alter bores were dealt with as follows :
One (at Kokatahi Hotel j -Dismissed. One (at Royal Hotel, Woodstock I, or-der-d to pay costs 7s. [ Two ( Mahinaptm Hotel). One appeared and pleaded guilty. Both ordered to pay f orts- due of I Is and the other 12.5. One Mahiiiapua Hotel). Ordered to pav costs 15s. DEFENDED CASK. The police charged Thomas Bennett licensee of Mahiiiapua Hotel (Mr Murdoch) with selling after hours, exposing for sale, keeping open during prohibited hours end with selling liquor to a youth William Hudson, under 2! years of age. Mr .Murdoch admitted the last charge and pleaded not gtillly to the other charges. Segt King gave evidence, stating the defendant had admitted the offences. A birth certiliciit'-* showing the ago of the young man served its Ji yi'Ut’n of age was put in. Defendant gave l evidence that he had asked the young man on a previous occasion Ids age and lie had stated he was 22 years of age. Defendant was in the writing when the young man can". 1 in. Vi itnessilid not expose anv liquor or keep the bar open. Joseph Clarke gave evidence that some time ago he heard lie/lfiett ask Hudson his age and lie told him that lie was 22 years ol age. lie would take him to lie 22 to 2.3 years of age.
Hi* Worship said the hoy in his opinion appeared to he under the age of Cl. Defendant would be convicted on charges of supplying a person under the age of 21 and lined 20s and costs Bis and on the charge of selling liquor after hours would be fined 20s. and costs 7-. The other two charges would be dismissed. TAKE EVIDENCE.
In the case of Alice Jeffcoat v. Mrs George Rnshoy, set down for hearing at To Kuiti, evidence was taken of Alice Jeffcoat, Win Henderson. A. Henderson and IF Jeffcoat. Mr Murdoch appeared for plaintiff and Air Eleock for ileiendniit.
