Florence Reed—a beautiful Follies Actress is starred in the Selznick big 0 act special picture. Three sisters are left penniless on the death of their father, and the eldest girl finds employment in the store of a young married man whose matrimonial life is by no means a happy one. Sympathy being akin in love, the employer and employee have much in common, and the result is that the husband forgets his wife and takes the other woman as his common-law partner. Relatives of the woman are shocked at the turn of affairs, and the girl is turned down as a consequence. When the employer dies, the woman is subject to further humiliation, so goes abroad to fnrgei

things. Here she is attracted by another man. and ihe pair fell in love with each other. Along comes the son of Iter deceased husband, and the woman, believing that the young lellow will reveal the skeleton of the past, resolves to tell her lover of her intrigue, anticipating his forgiveness. Rut nothing of the sort. The man. shocked at the confession, leaves the woman there and then. .Months after he meets her again ,hul pm.- an unreasonable proposition jo her. after which she orders him from her presence. She then lealisos that one cannot leave Hie straight path with impunity, so she returns to her work til- the store, where she determines to work out her redemption. The moral is obvious. A two reel comedy entitled “A desperate .scoundrel,” a Gazetle and Scenic will complete Ibis huge programme. Miss Giose will render special selections. Friday--" Blazing Arrows.”

MASTER PICTURES. ‘•THE CHEAT”-TUESDAY. Master Pictures on Tuesday present “The Cheat”. Two dozen ostrich plumes, some trailing the ground, were used in making n beautiful and unique fan. carried hv l’ola. Xegri, in a scene for the Vara mount picture. The setting is one of the largest and most elaborate over constructed in any studio. More than 3,500 toy balloons were used, some as clusters of grapes, others dropped from above in a shower. A fountain plays during the entire scene. The three hundred minor players. all in Oriental garb, carry Chinese lanterns of special color and design, each with an incandescent- light inside. Jack Holt, is featured as leading man and Charles do Roc-lie supports Miss Xegri in this line production. The fete scene shows the star auctioning as kiss for charity. De Roche bids (100 dollars for the kiss and wins. As he tries to collect, -Tack Holt, as the husband of the star, in a featured role, appears and threatens to kill the alleged East Indian autocrat-. Does the latter get his kiss or doesn’t he? See ‘•The Client” which is said to he one of the strongest features with a happy finish of the current season. Good supports make a very tine programme.
